7-component blending system

A gravimetric blender can be used as a stand-alone system for material blending. The blend unit shown on the left side is equipped with additional conveyors to feed material to each blend component.
If the gravimetric blend unit is independent but has to work in line with material conveying and extrusion, the throughput of all sub-systems have to be equalised. Here an ultrasonic gauge at the extruder inlet controls the level of the blended material. A level control loop changes the set-point of the blend unit accordingly.
In case of starve feeding a screw speed signal generates a proper set-point.
