Profile extruders are equipped with weigh hoppers to control
- Throughput or
- Weight per meter in kg/m or g/m
The reasons to use it are to compensate changes in the properties of raw material and to reduce the start-up time of the line.
Gravimetric competes against the measurement of profile edges to control line speed. The advantages to gravimetric control are:
- No individual set-up to products are necessary
- Constant quality in control
Gravimetric blending unit
Features
The direct gravimetric blending on top of a PVC-extruder is recommended to blend dry-blend and recyclate. Additionally masterbatch or additives can be mixed in.
The unit shown in the left picture is equipped with a gravimetric vibrational feeder to add short glass fibres.
Glass fibre compounded with a polymers can be processed by a screw feeder instead of a vibrational feeder.
